Scott E. Hampton & Robert A. Reiser. Research in Higher Education, 45(5), 497-527 (2004). Randomly assigned 37 computer science and chemistry teaching assistants to treatment or control. Treatment consisted of mid-semester student ratings and consultation feedback on a set of "best practice" instructional activities.
Results show that the treatment TAs are more likely to use the target practices and their students are more likely to rate them as effective teachers. Student learning outcomes were not conclusive.
